Freedom Rodeo & Old Cowhand Reunion

Freedom, The Queen City of the Cimarron, is located on the north bank of the Cimarron River with a beautiful backdrop of picturesque bluffs in Northwest Oklahoma. The Rodeo performances include Bareback Bronc Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Ranch Bronc Riding, Calf Roping, Junior Calf Roping, Ladies Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Junior Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, and Mutton Bustin’ for 7-years-old and under. The Cimarron Saloon hosts a free street dance each night after the rodeo on Main Street. Saturday has a slate of other activities hosted by community organizations. The morning starts out with the Red Bluff Classic 5K and Fun Run at 7:30. The American Legion is hosting a mini Made In Oklahoma Festival all day. The Cimarron Cowboys Association and Auxiliary provide a Free Chuckwagon Feed with Reunion of Old Cowhands afterwards. At 3pm is the Great Freedom Bank Robbery and Shootout, which is put on by community members. You can beat the heat at nearby Alabaster Caverns State Park. Besides the Freedom Museum, which features local history and artifacts from the local archeological site, there are 2 other museums within a short drive the Plains and Pioneer Museum in Woodward and the Cherokee Strip Museum in Alva.
