"All Aboard: Examining the Orphan Trail" Exhibit
Jan 21
Friday, January 21st through Saturday, June 4th, 2022. Throughout the nineteenth century, immigration to eastern U.S. cities increased and the country's population was growing. The Industrial Revolution worsened the situation, with few institutions in place to care for the poor or indigent. The orphan train movement was an ambitious, yet controversial attempt to relocate orphaned children from overpopulated cities on the east coast, to foster homes in the rural American west.

Travel Bag Workshop
Mar 5
Join us at the Chisholm Trail Museum for our Historical Travel Bag Workshop March 5. Participants will create a period travel bag under the guidance of Marna Davis, the Domestic Lady’s Dressmaker. The bag is fashioned after measurements from an original from Augusta Auctions. The style is found repeatedly in period fashion magazines and Butterick catalogs from the 1870s through the 1890s with virtually no change. The cost for the class is $75 and all materials and lunch are provided.
